Clearing is for students who have not yet received a university place or not yet applied for university at all. This could be for a number of reasons; you may be applying through UCAS after the 30th June; had a change of heart about your university choice or you may not have been able to meet the conditions of your original offer. We are always happy to help talk you through the Clearing process and assist with any queries you may have about the University of Bolton, or your course of interest.

There are a number of ways you can apply for a course thought Clearing at the University of Bolton. You can apply through UCAS Hub, directly or by calling us on the Clearing line below.

Our Clearing line team will take your application over the phone and make you an official offer on the spot. The team will also support you through the enrolment process, to make it as easy as possible for you.

Clearing is a quick and smooth application process if you haven't already secured an offer for a course, have received different grades than you were expecting, or are looking to expand your horizons with a different course.

Pre-registering for Clearing helps to make the process even smoother so that come results day you are in the best position to quickly get advice about the course, speak to tutors and secure an offer for the course you are interested in.

So, before results day, pre-register for Clearing and we’ll keep you posted

Please have a look at the course that you are interested in on our subject areas pages, some of them will have multiple start dates across the year.

We appreciate that you want to get your application in early for next year and we would love to help you do so. In Clearing, you can only apply for courses for September 2023. However, if you are interested in starting in January 2024 or September 2024 you will be able to apply through UCAS or direct to the University from September 2023. Clearing is open from the 5th July and closes in September, please see UCAS  for details.

Yes, of course. We are thrilled that you wish to join us at the University of Bolton. When Clearing opens you can use the Self Release tool in your UCAS Hub However, it’s very important that you only do this once you have called our Clearing number 0808 281 1111  and checked we have places and you are eligible.

We are delighted that you have chosen the University of Bolton to further your education. We understand that people change their minds on the course they are interested in, please contact us on our Clearing line 0808 281 1111 or email clearing@bolton.ac.uk we will be more than happy to help you change your course of interest.

During Clearing you can only apply to one university course at a time. Calling ensures that you know whether a course is available and you are eligible for a place.

The Clearing Team will be able to advise you on your current circumstance as well as any information about courses that have capacity limits, specific entry requirements, portfolios, or interviews for example.

If you meet the course entry requirements, you can get an offer while you’re on the phone. If you’re in UCAS, the Clearing Team will help you through the referral process.

If you have received an email thanking you for your application please be patient and wait until we contact you asking for further information or when a decision has been made. During Clearing you can send your qualifications to ugqualifications@bolton.ac.uk

The Undergraduate Admissions Team will process these and send confirmation once your application is moving to the next stage. Please ensure to include your name and any references such as UCAS ID or provisional student ID if you have one.
