Why Reskill in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Training?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is considered to be one of the best therapies for getting quick results. Both goal-oriented and problem-focused compared to other types of therapy, it can bring a lot of reward and job satisfaction for the practitioner.

By reskilling with cognitive behaviour therapy training, you can help people develop personal coping strategies for various mental health issues. Our MSc Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapies course prepares you for the Level 2 Provisional Accreditation as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBP), or for further study.

If you already have an Upper Second Class (2.1) Honours degree in a relevant discipline or higher, here are three reasons to reskill in this area.

  1. Train for practitioner accreditation
Through our Postgraduate programme, you will complete all the training requirements for accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). The BABCP is the only organisation which accredits CBT therapists. Accredited members are audited to ensure that they continue to meet high standards, and accreditation can open up many doors within the NHS, social services, mental health services, education, or private sectors.
  2. Choose a specialist area
Another great reason to reskill with a master’s is the unique opportunity to specialise in an area that’s close to your heart. For example, some of our students are passionate about working as a child psychotherapist and will get to focus their studies in this field. We also have students who dream of setting up a private practice, and while this may take some time to develop, our programme puts them on the right path to success.
  3. Move onto further education and research roles
Our dedicated Employability Team is on hand to help graduates achieve their career ambitions. But for those interested in advanced research roles, our course can lead onto continued studies and a relevant research degree.

Whatever your dream career path looks like, enrolling at the University of Bolton is the best decision you can make. Not only have we been No.1 in the North West for Student Satisfaction for the past three years (Complete University Guide in 2021, 2020 and 2019), but we’ve also been listed in the Top 50 UK Universities in The Guardian University League Tables 2020.

We also rank in the Top 5 in the UK for Teaching Quality (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide in 2021 and 2020), making us a great place to study.
