What Do I Do in a Special Effects Degree?

A special effects course equips you with all the skills and knowledge that you need to transform a recording into a spectacle! Throughout your course you will learn a range of valuable skills including design creativity, physical model-making skills, special prosthetic make-up effects, and cutting-edge 2D and 3D computer modelling. You will also develop a broader understanding of production design: including concepting, cinematography and composition. This allows you to have a greater understanding and appreciation of the roles, skills and expectations of other professionals working in the industry.

A special effects degree opens you up to a diverse spectrum of opportunities, from an engineering approach of a product modeler to the imaginative and inventive solutions of a creature or character designer.
