Students from the BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme once again work with Prevent Breast Cancer UK.
Prevent Breast Cancer UK, based at The Nightingale Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital is the only UK breast cancer charity funding ground-breaking research solely aimed at preventing the disease for future generations.
Their research will one day bring about a world where breast cancer is preventable, and thousands of lives are saved from ever experiencing this terrible disease.
For the fourth-year consecutive year, students from the graphic design programme have been challenged to answer a creative brief set by the team at Prevent.
This year the brief was designed to encourage woman, aged 47 upwards to attend their breast cancer screening appointment when invited.
There are many reasons a woman may fail to attend screening such as work commitments, concerns about the process, not knowing the radiographer is female or simply not understanding the importance of screening.
Students were tasked with creating a persuasive and innovative collection of material either digitally or in print dispelling these concerns and getting women to attend once they receive their invitation.
Individuals undertaking the challenge were delighted to be working on a live brief that can make a real difference to people’s lives, “The team from Prevent visited us in the studio to talk about the brief and discussed the problems they face.”
Once complete, the staff and students presented their outcomes in front of a panel of judges at the Nightingale Centre.
This year's winners were Oktawia Andrys and Ya’qub Mir.
