2019 has been an interesting year with us giving the opportunity to two University of Bolton’s students currently studying on the NCME Motorsport course. Ciceley is a family close-knit team running two Mercedes A-Class TOCA spec cars in the British Touring Car Championship, the two Students working with us this season have been a significant asset to our organisation.
Both students have balanced their university studies and learning with practical workshop and engineering experiences at our team base in Accrington and attended our preseason European test and all rounds of this year’s British Championship.
Their hard-working commitment and ability to provide assistance to our permanent team members has proved invaluable and to date, the team has completed several challenges encountered while racing this year that the students' interaction has been excellent.
As the Ciceley team's activities have grown this season seeing us now start competition in the UK TCR series the students have also been integrated into this activity as well.
It's a wonderful testament to the collaboration with the UOB to see these future engineers of tomorrow developing under our wings, and underlines the importance of industry specialists working with higher education, thus ensuring the learning and development of these students is done strategically and adds value to the individuals and the teams.
