Our MSc Psychology Conversion Course helps psychology graduates gain the accreditation they need to pursue a professional career in psychology. If you don’t have enough credits in psychology at Undergraduate level, this programme will convert your degree and put you on the right path to success.
At the University of Bolton, we put our students’ needs first, and provide a supportive and friendly learning environment so you can reach your potential. Not only do we rank in the Top 5 in the UK for Teaching Quality (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020), but we’re also in the Top 50 UK Universities in The Guardian University League Tables 2021, making us one of the best places for retraining or reskilling.
However, not everyone is suited to Postgraduate retraining courses, particularly in a specialist field like psychology. Here are some questions to consider if you’re considering a change in career:
Our conversion course is designed for full-time students who are completely committed to this line of work. Upon completion, you will have eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Soft skills are absolutely vital, and while we can arm you with knowledge, we can’t give you kindness and compassion. Not only do you need to be empathetic and patient, but you need to be a ‘people person’. You also need to have a solid ethical core and show cross-cultural sensitivity, and be ready to work on improving the skills you lack in.
Being a good clinical psychologist or counsellor is about more than just listening to problems. You must have a passion for problem-solving, and helping clients or patients identify the best coping mechanisms for their illness.
If this sounds like you, head over to our master’s Psychology Conversion course page for details.
As well as priding ourselves on our teaching quality, we’re also passionate about creating a fantastic experience during your time on campus. Students have voted us No.1 in the North West for Teaching Satisfaction in Psychology Courses (Guardian University League Tables 2021), as well as No.1 in the UK for Student Satisfaction in Psychology Courses (Complete University Guide 2021), and our student services team has been given the Customer Service Excellence Award (2016-2022). So there’s nowhere better to retrain than the University of Bolton!
