We want to share some stories from famous businesspeople about how they started and where they are now, hoping to give readers some inspiration and motivation. Let’s look at what we found…

Huda Kattan

If you know anything about make-up you most likely would have heard of Huda Beauty, founded by Huda Kattan in 2013 the company is now said to be worth over a billion dollars. In under ten years, it’s truly inspiring what Kattan has accomplished. The idea stemmed from her sister influencing her in 2010 to start a make-up blog on WordPress, as Kattan had studied beauty she was already a master of make-up before creating her own brand. The blog gained attention and sparked the creation of what we know as Huda Beauty. Things moved very quickly as the brand gained a huge amount of attention after Kim Kardashian was seen wearing Huda Beauty lashes. It’s amazing the influence one person can have, now Huda Kattan is one of the most powerful businesswomen in the make-up industry!

Phil Knight

With a net worth of over £40 billion, Phil Knight is one of the most successful businessmen in the world. Ever heard of Blue Ribbon Sports? If you haven’t, we can bet you’ve heard of its new name, Nike! The company was founded in 1964 after Knight decided to embark on his large passion for sports. After graduating from university, he decided to travel to Japan and find a manufacturer that could bring his visions of high-quality but low-costs sports shoes to a reality, which he successfully did and after receiving the sample back in America showed co-founder Bill Bowerman and from there Nike, as we know it today, was born.

Umar Kamani

This businessman hits close to home here at Bolton. Coming from Manchester, Umar Kamani took the strong industry links he had to his advantage and now owns one of the largest fashion brands in the world, Pretty Little Thing. With his father being the co-founder of another large fashion brand Boohoo, and his grandfather having created a textiles business that supplied major brands in the UK, Umar already had influences in his family to help him build a multi-million-pound company. Umar found the company in 2012 at the young age of 24 and has already left his mark in the fashion industry.
