Empowering Your Community - BA (Hons) Community Development and Youth Studies

Working with young people and adults in your community can make a real difference to peoples lives. If you believe in youth work, want to run social projects or simply help others, then our BA (Hons) Community Development and Youth Studies will set you on the right course.

Course information

This degree is a combination of academic study and work-based learning, blending together 200 hours of placement with research on topics such as social policy, community engagement and equality and diversity.

Your lecturers on this course are all passionate about Community Development and Youth studies, actively working with industry partners and agencies. This means you will have the option of choosing placements with over 70 organisations and learn about relevant, real-world concepts and how to implement them.

Flowing through this degree is a belief that personal and professional development is vital to each graduating leaving with all of the skills needed to make a difference.

We want each of our students to challenge inequality and discrimination in every setting and develop ideas about how youth work and social projects can enable community development. With this in mind, you will study under the guidance of experts who have spent their careers working for the good of society.
