What a career in Psychology looks like

Deciding on a career path can seem like a tremendous task to begin with. After studying multiple subjects for years, you finally have an idea about what you enjoy learning and potentially a career to pursue. The next step is to look for a degree in the industry you want to head into.

This blog looks at just one of the fascinating careers you can have after graduating from a Psychology degree. Most Undergraduates go on to study in a Postgraduate degree in order to develop analytical and practical skills.

Career options

A popular career choice that many aspire to is becoming a forensic psychologist. This type of role is slightly easier to obtain if you have a master’s degree but is still achievable with a bachelors. Many who are interested in this career option, have a deep interest in how the mind works but also how that can lead to criminal actions.

A forensic psychologist examines the mental states of criminals, assesses custody situation in family law, look at personal injury cases and of course, tries to help resolve situations through mediation. By psychically assessing individuals, they can determine their mental state in order to help benefit them or the situation they are in. Of course, not all people benefit, and sometimes decisions are made for the safety of others.

No day is the same as a forensic psychologist, some days you could be in prison assessing criminals, the next be in a courtroom giving psychological evidence.

In the spotlight

Studying psychology is fascinating. Discovering how each person’s mind ticks, what motivates them and reading their body language can be a significant factor as to why this type of degree is attractive.
