Catherine is originally from Manchester and joined the sport science team as a lab demonstrator in 2014 after graduating from the University. She is currently continuing her studies at the University of Bolton on the MSc in Strength and Conditioning.
Within her role as a Laboratory demonstrator, Catherine develops student’s practical sport science skills via the use of specialist sport science equipment, including: the Alter G treadmill, timing gates, treadmills, lactate testing equipment and VO2 Max equipment. Additionally, she works alongside lecturers in the Athlete Development Centre (ADC), applying the practical skills she gained during her studies.

Catherine is particularly interested in the effect of the time of day variation on athletic performance and the physiological demands of team sports. Such areas are likely to be the focus of her MSc dissertation.
Catherine has a wealth of experience applying sport science testing and providing sport science support to a variety of professional athletes and sports clubs. These include professional rugby league teams such as Warrington Wolves; football clubs such as Bolton Wonderers, Bury and Oldham Athletic; and international standard triathletes. She has also provided support to an international touch rugby team, providing data analysis on match demands during their international home nation’s tournaments. Finally, Catherine has also taught swimming and lifeguarded junior athletes over the past seven years.
