Former Manchester United director, Maurice Watkins CBE, joined a large audience in the University of Bolton’s Law Court last night (Thursday 21 September), sharing some interesting and controversial behind-the-scenes experiences from his impressive career.
The interview, held by ex-Krypton Factor presenter, Dr Gordon Burns, questioned Watkins on his remarkable 28-year career with Manchester United, where he guided the club through significant growth. President and Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor George E Holmes DL commented: “The evening was a fantastic success and Maurice’s experiences were inspirational, absorbing and eye-opening to all in attendance. We were delighted to have one of the leading sports lawyers, not only in the UK, but worldwide, as our guest.”
Watkins’ career includes chairmanships of British Swimming, Barnsley FC and the Rugby League European Federation along with directorship of Lancashire Country Cricket Club.
