Senior Lecturer Andy Taylor has been awarded the Queen’s Medal for 20 full years of service as a frontline ambulance paramedic.
He attended the ceremony in Bury where he was presented with the award by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Manchester.
‘It’s a proud moment for me because it’s an achievement to do 20 full years in the ambulance service providing emergency cover,’ said Andy.
Andy is the University’s newest Senior Lecturer in the Advance Practice team, teaching on the Advance Practice, Clinical Practice and Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care courses.
He joined the University in April but admitted that it has been difficult switching to teaching.
‘Teaching is very different to being in the emergency services, but I enjoy how it works,’ said Andy.
‘I’ve received great support from my managers, in particular Michelle Powell, who have helped embed the academic lifestyle into me.’
