The University of Bolton is displaying images from its third year photography students in an exhibition currently taking place in Bolton Marketplace.

The display showcases the work of students on the BA Hons Photography course and was organised by academics Jim Williams and Ian Glover, and students as part of the Advanced Photography Practice module.

The free exhibition opened in December and continues until Wednesday 11 January 2017.

Also taking place at the University in December was the Photography Industry Advisory Board (PIAB).

The board focuses on strengthening the link between academia and industry and includes the opportunity for students to meet and work alongside world- leading professionals.

Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Photography, Ian Glover said: ‘neo:artists have had a long and successful association with us, which includes great prizes and exhibitions for students.

‘The PIAB helps the University to build and strengthen the links with industry. We have recently worked with photographer Gus Sivyer and The Bolton News who have been offering professional and technical advice as well as placements for students.

‘We are really excited to welcome Katrina Houghton and Redeye, the international photography network based in Manchester, to the board as they present huge opportunities in industry experience and advice for our students.

‘Thomas Dukes, the curator of Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool, brings experience from one of the oldest, most famous and established international photographic galleries in the United Kingdom. Their exhibition list includes the biggest names in photography from The FSA to Martin Parr and many other internationally renowned artists.’
