Lets work together

About Us

As one of the largest towns in the UK, Bolton offers the best of both worlds - low living costs coupled with the region’s vibrant nightlife and entertainment, close to the big cities of Manchester and Liverpool. You will be based on a modern, compact campus with a student body of around 11,000. With us no-one feels anonymous, and you’ll benefit from small teaching groups on most courses.

Aspire Bolton.

This fantastic film was shot during the first week of semester last year and provides a glimpse into the life of our students across many of our unique courses. Filmed on location during live teaching, the film showcases our excellent facilities, dedicated tutors and campus life. The film is set to an exclusive version of ‘Let’s Work Together’ recorded especially for the film. Come and experience life at Bolton for yourself at one of our Open Days.

Culture in and around Bolton

In Bolton you will find the Albert Halls (made famous by Peter Kay) and the award-winning Octagon Theatre. In Manchester, culture vultures can enjoy three national theatres, live music and comedy at Manchester Central or Apollo, several cinemas showing both major and independent films, plus smaller, more intimate culture venues such as the Cornerhouse.

Close to the cities of Liverpool and Manchester, with their internationally renowned cultural, sporting and retail centres, Bolton also puts entertainment and shopping right on your doorstep.

Bolton’s stores include the independent and the big name brands, mostly based in the Market Place Shopping Centre. Shoppers can also take a train to Manchester - the North West’s shopping capital. Explore quirky boutiques in the Northern Quarter and designer stores in the city centre.

Sports Facilities

On the Deane campus, a large multi-court sports hall caters for a wide range of sports from badminton through to volleyball. The gym houses a range of cardio vascular and resistance equipment, plus some free weights, and is very good value for money for students. There is also a climbing wall located in the sports centre, which is suitable for beginners through to the more experienced climber.

Bolton One and other external Facilities

Outside the university, there are public football pitches, golf courses, riding schools, sports centres and public swimming pools as well as facilities for a wide range of other sports.

Race Team on Campus

The University of Bolton has a race team on campus, with a number of professional drivers including Kelvin Fletcher (from ITV's Emmerdale).

Students' Union

The Students' Union on campus organise events throughout the year, help manage all the societies and groups that students set up, and also provide support in those times of need.
