Live Literature Series: Clare Shaw and Anne Caldwell

Bolton Central Library

Tuesday 3 December, 7pm - 8.30pm

The University of Bolton and Bolton Central Library are delighted to present the third and final event in their series of FREE poetry and fiction performances as part of the 'Live Literature' series.

Anne Caldwell is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Bolton. She also works for the National Association of Writers in Education and the Open University. Her award winning first collection, 'Talking with the Dead' is published by Cinnamon Press and is a best seller. She worked in Berlin this summer, representing the UK at a major festival and produced a book of poems based on her father's photographs of the city. Alison Brackenbury described Anne's work as follows:

'Her poems deal passionately with grief and birth, love and lobsters. They are intensely alive, flighty as young animals; powerful and varied as the sea.'

Clare Shaw is described as “one of Britain’s most dynamic and powerful young poets” (Arvon Foundation). She is a writer with a wide range of

publications, including two Bloodaxe poetry collections. Clare has a national reputation as a dynamic and engaging performer. She has extensive

experience of teaching, training and workshop facilitation and has worked in a range of settings including schools, prisons, secure and community mental health services. Her current collection is Head On (Bloodaxe 2012).
