At a University that grants students with the acumen and qualifications necessary to succeed both in their careers and lives, TEDxUniversityofBolton seeks to enrich that experience outside the classroom with inspiring talks and performances showcasing talent from within the University of Bolton and beyond.
TEDxUniversityofBolton is run by a team of exceptional students and supported by dedicated staff members of the University of Bolton. We seek to extend the TED experience at a regional level, highlighting exceptional ideas, inspiring people and creative works within our community. We explore big questions with a broad spirit of inquiry. We strive to connect people across disciplines and create conversations that drive action. Beyond the organisation of TEDxUniversityofBolton, our team form a fresh and dynamic community, always evolving and in search of new ideas and projects to share.
On TEDxUniversityofBolton, we’re building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired thinkers — and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other. In fact, everything we do in TEDxUniversityofBolton is driven by this goal: How can we best spread great ideas?
What is TEDx?
TED is a nonprofit organisation committed to ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’. Back in 1984, the first TED conference brought together thinkers from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design, to share ideas and learn from each other.
Since then its scope has become ever broader. The world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers are now challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less. No autocue, no scripts. All of the best talks and performances are available to the world, for free, on TED.com (link is external), we make the best talks and performances from TED and partners available to the world, for free.
TEDx, x=independently organized event
To bring the TED experience to a wider audience, TED created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience, where the X stands for independently organised TED event. TEDx has run over 12,100 events worldwide in 190 countries with talks translated into 49 languages.Learn More
