Welcome to the Library Booklet

In this booklet you will find details which may be useful to you as you start your studies.

Subject Resources

The subject resource pages are arranged by subject area and contain links to books, journals, websites and databases relevant to your subject area. They are compiled by librarians who have specialist knowledge of the subject area, and usually list only those resources which have academic value.

Library Publications & Application Forms

We've written a large number of help guides providing information on general and computing library services, subject areas, study skills and electronic resources. In addition we have also prepared a number of short video tutorials to help you through the process of accessing and using some of our electronic resources. The guides are available to download in Adobe Acrobat's pdf format and the videos can be view on any computer via a web browser.

Information Literacy Framework

The University of Bolton is committed to helping each student graduate as an 'information literate' person. This means that they will be able to identify, locate and retrieve standard (subject) and other material in printed and electronic form, using appropriate resources. They will be able to synthesise and present retrieved materials in ways appropriate to the task in hand.
