"I have found the course to be very informative and it is enjoyable to actually learn the true workings and mechanisms of the human body and how to research the different aspects. I’m excited about what is to lie ahead."

"Sports Rehabilitation at Bolton is a wonderful course. The lecturers present and teach the lectures in a way that has you understanding what is covered but also asking questions to further your knowledge. The relationship between the lecturers and students is fantastic, and we get great information and skills from all the lecturers as they are all still practising while teaching."

"I think that the close relationship and support between first and second years both socially and academically has been beneficial to all students. Academically it is good to get other revision tips as well as help with all modules."

"The topics covered in this course are so relevant that it leads to confidence in the ability to take on a wide variety of possible roles, a feature that makes this course so appealing."

"My best memory from the course so far, and there are so many, but this one had to be traveling with Leigh Centurions RFLC to an away game on the players’ coach and on arrival going straight in to getting the players ready for a game in less than 30 minutes- talk about a learning curve!"

"Sports Rehabilitation is a fantastic course, mainly because of the incredible amount of knowledge you can gain in such a short time. The course combines a mixture of theory and practical-based work and I find that the practical sessions help to consolidate the information gathered from the theoretical side. In addition to this, what sets this course apart is that you get the opportunity to develop your skills in the real world.
So far, I have gained experience at Wigan Warriors RLFC, Wigan Athletic FC and the Sports and Spinal Injuries Clinic based at the University. All of these placements have been an invaluable experience. This is a great course if you have a passion for sport and an interest in anatomy, physiology and musculoskeletal injury.
With the help offered by the lecturers and the experience gained from professional sport and private practice clinics I believe that I will be well prepared for a career in the field of sports injuries."

"Having served for six and a half years in the Royal Marines the time came for a change of pace and lifestyle. My searches for alternative routes led me to the University of Bolton and in particular Sports Rehabilitation. As a mature student I needed to know that the course chosen was going to set me on the correct direction vocationally.
The Sports Rehabilitation pathway was established to fill a specific role in sport, between the Physiotherapist and the Sports Scientist, and the course equipped me for work in this field and further developed my knowledge within these areas.
My final year placement saw me working with Stoke City Football Club. Following my placement I kept links with the club and returned over the summer on a voluntary basis to run the Academy team's pre-season training.
I have recently been asked to be the Stoke Under 16's Physio, in addition to the work I continue to do with the First team."
Aaron Smale, graduated in Summer 2011
"With the time I spent at the University of Bolton, I found that it had great facilities for learning and tutors that had worked within the field of sports rehabilitation.
The Sports Rehabilitation course was a great pathway to get me prepared for the working environment with a good mix of theory and practical learning. The varieties of clinical placements were excellent and gave me first-hand experience of the many different career choices available.
I am now working within the private practice setting; primarily sports massage therapy, and also at Bolton Wanderers Academy Football Club, which would not have been possible without the experience gained whilst studying here."
Adam Brown, graduated in Summer 2011
"I thoroughly enjoyed the Sports Rehabilitation course under the guidance of Anna Fitzpatrick, Adam Naylor and Fionnuala Geoghegan. The teaching and support given is first rate and the lecturers will always spare the time to help you wherever possible. I have learnt various treatment and rehabilitation techniques that are applicable to working in sport or private practice. This is taught through numerous practical sessions accompanied with various theory sessions to back it up. The skills I learnt were then put into practice in my final year as I went on a three month placement at Oldham Athletic Football Club. I further developed my skills here by learning from the professionals that constantly work in sport on a day to day basis. I have also had placements at Wigan Athletic Football Club and Bury Football Club.
On completion of this course I was offered the Centre of Excellence Physiotherapist job at Oldham Athletic Football Club where I look after the under 9’s to 16’s and provide pitch side support. I also continue to go into the club one day a week where I voluntarily provide sports massage and rehabilitation techniques to the first team."
