Researchers should already have an excellent standard of study skills. However there may be some skills that you feel need to be developed further. Useful sections of BISSTO may include Advanced Research Skills and Study Skills

The informed researcher [PDF] (registration with Vitae may be required) is an excellent guide to research skills and information literacy for researchers.
The university organises a Postgraduate Skills Development Programme, which will enable you to progress through your research with the necessary knowledge and expertise. Details of the programme are available through Moodle and/or your research supervisor. The procedures and forms relevant to research can be found on the University’s Research Degrees and Students pages under Research Documents.

When you receive your university induction you should meet your subject librarian and find out about what other services the library can provide for you. For more information see the library website which has a section called Research Support.

If you are studying off-campus you may want to contact your subject librarian via email to discuss your needs. We can support you via email with any enquiries you have regarding library services and resources.
