Women in SCET (Science, Construction, Engineering and Technology) is a network of female students, graduates and staff of the University of Bolton

Background

The network was the brainchild of an ex-student Barbara Entwistle intended originally to support female students on Built Environment courses. The network started off in 2002 as the Women in Construction group championed by Barbara and Mr Roger Seeds (now retired), but expanded into a wider network on the amalgamation of the former departments of the Built Environment and Engineering. It grew further to include Technology and Science students from other subject groups across the university. The network is currently coordinated by Barbara and Dr Margaret Nelson and based within the School of Engineering, Sports and Sciences.

Network Activities

We meet two times a year and invite female professionals in these and related  industries to give careers advice and discuss issues of relevance to Women in the SCET professions. Each event is held on a Tuesday or Thursday evening between 6.00 and 8.00 pm. We also invite speakers to share their experiences, and provide mentoring for female students and alumni.
