The University of Bolton, Ras Al Khaimah campus is proud to announce that it has entered into a partnership with the British Council and its teaching centres in the UAE to provide English language placement testing and language teaching for students and corporate organisations.
The partnership has been marked with a Memorandum of Understanding, signed by Dr George Holmes, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton and Mr Paul Sellers, Director of the British Council in the UAE. The partnership has been launched with the delivery of English language classes for students at the RAK Campus, which began in Autumn 2009.
The English language provision at the University of Bolton, RAK campus has been set up to help both international and home students meet the entry level requirements of any British university.
The programme is delivered over a semester, to enable students to complete the English language programme and enter any of the programmes on offer at the University of Bolton, RAK.
The English language programme will develop the students' English language skills and knowledge as well as introduce them to the specialist subject areas they have chosen to study at the University of Bolton. In addition, students will develop a range of transferable skills appropriate to studying on a degree programme.
The collaboration also aims to extend the portfolio of English language programmes, through an academic outreach venture aimed at working professionals in the corporate world. The collaborative partnership involves providing General English, Business English and customised courses for organisations in Ras Al Khaimah and the Northern Emirates.
The British Council and the University of Bolton, RAK Campus also aim to work towards promoting awareness of UK culture to its students and the surrounding community. The English language provision, targeting non-English speakers, is already seeing significant interest from Government departments across the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
