Bolton builds its online learning provision

Wednesday 01 September 2010

The University launches a range of online undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Business and Computing in October.

Under the name BoltOnline, the first online learning programme to be delivered will be:

  • BA (Hons) Business Management

  • MBA

  • BSc (Hons) Computing

  • MSc Information Technology

A further four online programmes, as well as professional and short-courses, are planned to be delivered under BoltOnline within the following year.

Using the state-of-the-art online study programme, Elluminate, the University will offer students live, two-way communication and the ability to talk in real time to their tutor, or other students, over the internet.

Said Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Peter Marsh: 'The launch of BoltOnline represents an important strategic development for the University. It places the University in a position to offer students a range of flexible study options, allowing students to move easily between online provision and any of our other programmes delivered face-to-face under the current partnerships provided in the UK and in locations around the world. These currently include Germany, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, RAK, Russia and Vietnam.

'The Unviersity of Bolton has an established international reputation for the research work it does into online learning, through its Institute for Cybernetics.

'While we have online learning within our microelectronics courses this is a new development and one which aims to considerably advance our online learning portfolio.

'In this way students will be able to really experience the debate and discussions, all considered to be distinctive features of the British degree.'

BoltOnline will be delivered in partnership with The International College (THINC), part of the KES Group. This creation of BoltOnline is the result of a strategic partnership with the KES Group, which has also resulted in the establishment of the Bolton Campus in Ras al Khaimah| |(RAK), United Arab Emirates in 2008.

Further information on the programmes will be available from the BoltOnline website at http://uoboltonline.com/|
