The Sports and Spinal Injury Clinic @ the University of Bolton is a new sports and spinal injuries centre for the North West, and it's open to everyone.

Philosophy

We offer individual and tailored services to all – from family members to amateur and elite sportsmen and women.

We listen, we assess, we care and then we treat your injury. We are committed to the development of musculo-skeletal injury treatment, and to sharing that knowledge through teaching.

Accurate diagnostic and treatment skills from experienced professionals with an up-to-the-minute knowledge of current research, enables you to get well, and to stay well.

Our treatment facilities are located at the heart of the university campus with full access to an on-site gym.

Treatments

Following your assessment the clinician will advise you to the most appropriate course of action, and will explain which treatment will be most suited to your condition.

The treatments we use include;

Massage

reduces muscle spasm, loosens scar tissue and accelerate the healing process

Mobilisation

applied movements to reduce stiffness

Manipulation

high velocity mobilisation to restore normal movement

Rehabilitation programme

individual programmes devised to re-educate and restore weak or deficient muscles

Electrotherapies

a variety of modalities that relieve pain and enhance healing

Prevention

assessing the causes of injuries, and preventing re-occurrence through use of postural strengthening and ergonomic assessment
