Teaching responsibilities

I joined the University in 2014 and I am a lecturer in Education. I teach inclusion modules on the BA Hons in Education and Learning degree as well as on the Teacher Training PGCE TLAN course – teaching learners with additional needs. I am responsible for carrying out Teaching practice observations in a wide range of educational establishments. I also supervise undergraduate and Master’s dissertations in Education

My specialist interest is in the area of emotional and behavioural difficulties.

I have taught across the whole education sector from primary to post 16, both in mainstream and special education. In 1999 I decided to work wholly within the area of additional needs and since then have been involved in special schools, specialist colleges and the private sector across the North West, working with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities as well as emotional and behavioural difficulties.

I have a range of experience in observing teachers across the special education sector as well as delivering training. My qualifications include T. Cert, B.Ed., M.Ed., M.A and a specialist qualification in Autism.

I have recently started PhD research into the impact of adoption on mental health, wellbeing and relationships.
