Programme leader for the MA in Creative Writing
I have taught on the University’s MA Creative Writing course since 1997, am now the programme leader, hold an Honorary Doctorate from the University and am an Honorary Fellow of the English Association and the School of English, University of Leeds. Since 1997 I have also been the Managing Editor of the International magazine Stand, which was founded in London in 1952.
As a writer and poet, I have written about modern poetry and the literature of war, edited the Penguin Book of First World War Prose and have had three books of my own poems published.
My research interests include the preparation of a literary biography of the poet and critic, Jon Silkin, a study of the culture of small magazines in the world of poetry and further work on contemporary poets and poetry.
