Lecturer in BSc (Hons) Youth and Community Work
Prior to becoming a lecturer I worked as a qualified youth and community worker for more than 20 years, with experience in several forms of youth work. These included spells as a youth worker in youth clubs, a community education co-ordinator, project manager for unemployed care leavers, a community education worker, employment education work with disadvantaged young people and education activities with Bolton’s Youth Offending team.
My academic experience includes spells as an associate lecturer for the Open University, a tutor on the university’s CPD course in Youth Work, an assessor for the NVQ in Youth Work and a trainer for the locally qualified youth work qualification.
My current interests involve youth and community work practice, the youth work process and role of the youth worker, managing youth work, young people in the community, management skills and continuing professional development in youth work.
