Teaching Responsibilities

Senior Lecturer in Structural Engineering
Personal tutor
Module leader for structural engineering modules (structural analysis, structural design, and foundation maths)
Course leader for the IStructE examination course (2006-2008)

Overview

After completinmg my MSc in Structural Engineering in 1988 and a PhD in Computer-aided Structural Engineering in 1992, I have specialised in this field ever since and am now a member of both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society for Engineering Education.

Having previously worked in univeristies in the Middle East, North Africa and the UK, I now hold the role of Senior lecturer in Structural Engineering in the School of Engineering at the University of Bolton.

My academic responsibilities include acting as module leader for the structural engineering modules, course leader for the IStructE examination course and also working with a number of students as a personal tutor.

Research interests include the application of expert systems for diagnosis, interpretative and design problems in Civil Engineering; earthquake-resistant design of buildings; and the use of the internet and www. technology in civil engineering education and distance learning.
