You Said, We Did - Bolton Business School
Business & Business Information Systems
YOU SAID: 'Feedback from assignments could be more detailed.'
WE DID: In 2009/10 we introduced standard feedback forms for use across the School (BBS) to identify key strengths and areas for development in assignments, presentations and projects. Standard assessment guidelines are now used across the School (BBS) and provided in Programme Handbooks, which should address this issue.
YOU SAID: 'Assignment feedback was not prompt.'
WE DID: As part of the review of its assessment policy, the School (BBS) now aims to return assignments to students with feedback within 15 working days of the hand in date. This marking target is specified in the Programme Handbooks.
YOU SAID: 'I have not been able to access general IT resources when I needed to.'
WE DID: The number of laptops for loan, available in the library has been increased to 75 which is part of a programme of IT resource improvements.
Tourism
YOU SAID: 'Not enough ICT Resources for everyone of us.'
WE DID: The number of laptops for loan, available in the library has been increased to 75 which is part of a programme of IT resource improvements.
YOU SAID: 'There should have been more resources available concerning the connection to tourism.'
WE DID: Many more resources have been added to the library over the summer break. In addition many of the main tourism texts are now available as electronic books. The Dewey system does sometimes place tourism texts in Business, Leisure or other areas, which does confuse those who are unable to utilise the library resourcefully. We put on extra library information sessions in 2009/10 to clarify what is available and how it can be accessed.
Law

YOU SAID 'The Law library is sited inappropriately and the study environment does not support the type of courses being delivered.'
WE DID In consultation with the Law Society President and other students, a separate Law section with dedicated PCs was created. A £10,000 grant was also used to purchase Archive material for the reconfigured Law library.
