2011 Funding Information for Part Time PDE/PGDE courses

This information sheet provides details of the financial arrangements for those intending to begin a PGDE or PDE course at the University of Bolton in September 2011. This information was correct at the time of writing, though it is subject to change. Please enquire at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance|  for the latest information and to apply for funding on form PTG1.

Course Fees (Home/EU students)

 

PGDE Part Time 2 years £705 per annum  

PDE Part Time 2 years £705* per annum

 

*Please note tuition fee is subject to price increase in year two

 

The course fees apply to all PGDE/PDE courses accredited by the University of Bolton regardless of where the course is being studied.

Financial Assistance

 

 

Tuition Fee Grant

 

In 2011/2 part time PGDE/PDE students may be eligible for a non repayable grant which may pay all or part of their tuition fees. Please note that you cannot receive a grant which is higher than your overall tuition fee cost. The amount received is determined by your household income and intensity of study. For maximum support household income must be below £16,845, partial support may be available on household income up to £25,420. You must be studying the equivalent of at least 50% of a full time course.

 

Course Grant

 

Part Time students are eligible for a grant of up to £265 for course-related costs. The amount received is determined by your household income, full grant on income up to £26,029, partial grant on income up to £28,065. This grant is not linked to intensity of study.

Please note the deadline to apply for funding is 28 February following September starting courses and 30 June following January starting courses.

IFL registered students who are already employed as teachers at FE institutions may be able to obtain a non means tested grant of £400 towards tuition fees from their employers. Please enquire of your employer with regard to this grant.

 

 

 

Additional Support

 

The universities Access to Learning Fund may be available to students in severe financial hardship. It is a means tested fund and administered on a case by case basis. Only students who have received the maximum tuition fee and course grant can apply.
