To apply for your Tier 4 student visa you will need a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) number from the University.

A CAS cannot be used more than once. If your Tier 4 Student Visa application is refused and you need to make a fresh application, you will need to request a new CAS.

What is a CAS?

A CAS is a unique reference number assigned and used by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) which links to a virtual document containing information about you and your course of study. Every student will have a different CAS number.

How can I get a CAS?

  • Call into the Student Centre and ask for a "Request for a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies" form.
  • Hand in the completed form together with your passport and any visa documents to the Student Centre. Your passport and visa documents will be scanned and returned to you immediately.
  • If you are eligible for a CAS we will send your information to the UKBA, who will assign a unique CAS number for you and pass this back to us. Your CAS number will be issued to you in a CAS Statement which lists the information we sent to the UKBA and is for your use only; you will need to enter your CAS number on your Tier 4 application form but you do not need to submit this paper CAS statement with your Tier  4 application. We will contact you to let you know when your CAS statement is ready.
  • Collect your CAS Statement from the Student Centre and check all the information carefully. If any of the information is incorrect you must let us know immediately because if your application does not match, your request for a visa extension could fail.

Remember to request your CAS at least 2 months before you intend to apply for your visa extension so that we have time to process your application.
