Continuing Students
If you are a continuing student and your visa will expire before the end of your course you will need to apply for new immigration permission, "Leave to Remain", under Tier 4 of the points based system.
Before you can apply for your visa extension you will need to request a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS|) from the University and to be able to show that you have the required level of funds.
To be eligible to make an application under the points based system, you must score: -
-
30 points for your CAS;
-
10 points for required maintenance (funds).

This money must be in your account for at least 28 consecutive days and cannot drop below this required amount at any point during this time. The closing balance must be no more than 1 month before your application..
The UKBA 'How much money do you need?' guide for students| contains more detailed information on the maintenance requirements.
