Students supporting students!

Experience Peer Mentoring Logo

Our Student Peer Mentoring Scheme was launched in 2010-11 with 56 student volunteers (peer mentors) who successfully mentored 59 students (mentees). Since then the scheme has continued to develop thanks to the commitment of our student volunteers. To date, a total of over 240 trained student volunteers have supported in excess of 250 student mentees.

Peer mentoring provides valuable opportunities for both peer mentors and mentees to develop their skills and knowledge in areas such as interpersonal, communication, organisational, etc. to help them succeed at University and in their careers.

The mission of our Student Peer Mentoring Scheme is to improve the student experience by providing additional one-to-one personal support to new students in order to help them progress with their studies and remain in Higher Education. In addition to this, the scheme aims to assist the student volunteers (peer mentors) in enhancing their employability skills and personal development.
