International Student Welcome Meeting - September 2013
The Immigration and Welfare Officer will be available at the enrolment weekend (14th and 15th September) to welcome all new international students to the University of Bolton. All new students arriving that weekend must attend a Tier 4 induction with the Immigration and Welfare Officer in addition to the University central induction.
In addition to the Tier 4 induction the Immigration and Welfare Officer will be running welcome meetings for new international students. For those students who miss the enrolment weekend one of these sessions will be mandatory. If you have attended the Tier 4 induction at the enrolment weekend but wish to obtain further information about life in the UK you are also invited to attend the welcome meeting on one of the following dates:
- Wednesday 18th September at 9.45 am
- Friday 20th September at 1.45 pm
- Wednesday 25th September at 9.45 am
- Friday 27th September at 1.45 pm
Students should report to the Student Centre, Chancellors Mall at the time stated above. The areas covered at the welcome meeting will include:
Opening a UK bank account
How to receive medical treatment in the UK
Safety and Security for students
meet the Student Liaison Officers and find out about how they can help
Meet the International Society and discover more about the social side of University
The International Society will be organising Campus Tours where you will be guided around the University by a member of the International Society, visiting key places within the University i.e the Library, Social Learning Zone, Students' Union, the Student Centre and food outlets on campus.
Student Services and the Students' Union have produced an arrival booklet which contains useful information for all new international students. You will be given a copy at the Welcome Meeting, a copy of the booklet is available to download at the top of the page.
It is always important to take measures to stay safe in any major town or city and there are certain things you should be aware of to allow you to take some sensible safety precautions.
