The University of Bolton works with HOST UK which is an organisation that allows international students to apply for an invitation to spend a weekend as a guest of British residents.
There are approved volunteer host families all over the UK, waiting to welcome you for a weekend or Christmas break from your studies.
You can have your visit near to Bolton or somewhere further away. You can visit host families alone or with other international students. Your host will welcome you as a friend, share their way of life with you, chat, eat together and show you the area in which they live. They will also be interested to learn about your culture too.
The hosts do not charge for their hospitality. There will be an administrative charge of £60 and you will also need to pay your travel costs.
You can also visit the HOST UK website to find out further information about this great opportunity for cultural exchange and international friendship whilst you are in the UK.
We will add reviews from University of Bolton students who have been on a HOST visit on this page very soon so please keep checking!
Below is some feedback from students from other Universities who have enjoyed HOST visits:
After your visit starts, you will realise how many great experiences you have missed in the UK. I will promise you the experiences you will get will be the best in your life ever.
