With effect from 06 April 2013 students studying towards a PhD at the University of Bolton will have the opportunity to apply for an extension to their Tier 4 visa for an additional period of 12 months after their completion date.
The Doctorate Extension Scheme is designed to allow PhD graduates a longer period to find work with a Tier 2 sponsor, set up a business in the UK or gain valuable work experience.
The scheme requires universities to continue sponsorship of PhD students during the additional 12 months and therefore candidates must have a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from the University of Bolton in order to apply under this scheme.
Students must submit their Tier 4 visa application for the Doctorate Extension Scheme before the award of PhD is confirmed but no more than 60 days before the expected date of award. Therefore it is important to get advise at the earliest opportunity.
For further information about this scheme please read the information leaflet available here. You can also download the expression of interest form if you are due to complete your studies and would like to make an application under the Doctorate Extension Scheme
If you have any questions about the scheme you can contact the Immigration and Welfare Officer on 01204 903496 or email email@example.com alternatively you can attend one of the drop in sessions.
