FA and Mars Just Play festival

The first of eight Just Play Festivals is to be hosted by the University of Bolton on Wednesday 19th october from 12pm to 4pm.

Just Play is the FA and Mars programme that will arrest the decline in adult football, caused according to Sport England, by lack of facilties, increased apathy, inflexible football options and logistical difficulties, As one of the 13 new University Just Play centres, the University of Bolton is activly working with the FA, Mars and BUCS to turn this around.

The festival, being held at the Bolton Arena, will launch the University's Just Play activity and give the University and the local County FA the perfect chance to promote future Just Play activity and other more formal playing opportunities to students who are loooking to continue along the player pathway.

The format for the festival will see 24 5-a-side teams from Universities accross the region play in an organised social tournament in 4 groups of 6, with each team playing a minimum of 6 games - 5 group games and one knock out game in the Cup, Trphy or Plate. The event will also have a Just Play session, to which everyone is invited to just turn up and play.

Team entry is completely free making these festivals the perfect opportunity for students to get back into the swing of things or take up somehting new at the start of  the academic year.

Cai Robbins, BUCS Football Development Coordinator said "Just Play is a fantastic initiative which will have a positive impact on student engagemennt. These festivals are a great chance to welcome new payers to the game and new students to University football. Working closely with the Univerisyt of Bolton and Lancashire FA we really believe this festival will be a brilliant springboard to the Just Play activity the University will be offering this year".

Lancashire County FA are proud to be involved in the delivery of Just Play saying the programme "embraces fun, the passions and love of the game. It re-engages the child in us all".
