According to well established sources in 85% of cases nurses are using inappropriate dressings due to their inability of applying theory and knowledge to their practice. This is particularly alarming since the number of dressings being introduced into the market each year is rapidly increasing. This work attempts to develop an expert system that in the first instance could be used as a learning/training tool for nurses and clinician but more importantly as an intelligent guide to selection of wound dressings, based on actual data.
