Campus security
The university security team is there to help students and staff enjoy halls and campus in safety. Students will see the security team on and around campus - they are there to help so do say hello.
There are two halls of residence at the university, The Hollins and Orlando Village. They are both next to campus, and together they provide 700 single study bedrooms. Everything you'd expect is provided - wardrobe, desk, storage, curtains, easy chair and of course a bed! All the utilities (water, heating etc) are included in the rent. There's also an internet point in every bedroom. University staff are on hand at halls during the day and evening and can provide local information and advice. There's also a 24 hour security patrol. All the payphones in the halls are directly linked to the security team - just press the freephone button to get straight through. As part of the induction to halls all residents are given an additional emergency number to save to their mobile phones - this will also summon assistance at any time.
Car parking is free for residents, and the car parks at both halls are patrolled regularly by members of the university security team. Students on all courses, from across the UK as well as international students live in halls which makes Orlando Village and The Hollins welcoming and cosmopolitan places. The halls are ideally placed for shops and other amenities and students are asked to be courteous to all our neighbours especially when returning in the early hours.
The university security team is based in offices at Eagle House, Deane campus and can be reached on 01204 903700. In an emergency students can call 01204 903666.
