Getting around Bolton

Bolton is a large, bustling town. It offers a range of attractions, first-class shopping, great people, bars, clubs, restaurants and fantastic sporting facilities. It’s also got great road and rail transport links with the rest of the North West and the UK.

Bolton lies at the heart of the UK's motorway network directly served by the M61 (Junctions 3, 4, 5 and 6) and close to the M6, M60 (Manchester Orbital Motorway) and M61 with the A666 (off M61 Junction 3) giving direct access to the town centre. Bolton bus station is 5 minutes walk from campus.

By rail

Bolton is well served with direct inter city links to Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and Manchester Airport and frequent connections via Manchester and Preston to the whole UK rail network. For details of rail operators/timetables see the useful websites section below.

By air

Manchester Airport is less than 20 miles from Bolton.

On foot

Best of all the University of Bolton campus is less than ten minutes walk from Bolton town centre and all its amenities including sports halls, shops, bus and train stations, bars, clubs and restaurants. Many students enjoy walking or cycling everywhere.
