Sporting Life

As well as the university Sports and Recreation Service|, there are a range of sports facilities across Bolton where you can play or watch sports.

Bolton Excel Centre includes a state-of-the-art fitness suite with cardio and weights equipment, a multi-purpose sports hall, squash courts and gymnasium and is a few minutes walk from campus.

Bolton Arena| is next to the Reebok stadium. This state-of-the-art leisure complex was built for the Commonwealth Games and includes tennis courts, athletics track, health and fitness suite, full-sized association football pitch, sports education theatre, conference and catering facilities and dance studio. It stages national and international events.

There are a number of leisure centres in Bolton offering everything from swimming to climbing walls and all weather pitches. There are also a number of good municipal golf courses within easy reach of the university.

The Reebok stadium is home to Bolton Wanderers Football Club| – the Super Whites! The stunning stadium offers a bar, hotel and restaurant and is worth a visit whether you are a footy fan or not. Look out for the new Spirit of Sport sculpture.
