Vice-Chancellor’s Award Briefing Sheet 2012/13

 

 

The Vice Chancellor’s Award of up to £15,000 was introduced from 2009/10 onwards for students whose courses of study commence from September 2009 or later.

 

Eligibility

 

In 2012/13 students must be being charged the maximum relevant tuition fee for their course of study, i.e. £5,100, £6,300, £7,200 or £8,400. Fees must be paid via tuition fee loan or student must be self funded.

 

The course must have commenced in September 2009 or later

 

The Vice Chancellor’s Award will be awarded to the most outstanding and academically-gifted full-time U.K. undergraduate students, irrespective of their financial means, who progress to a University of Bolton undergraduate Higher Education course having accumulated a minimum of 360 UCAS points at A2 level or equivalent.*

 

There will be a maximum of three awards each year.

Application guidelines

 

 

The Vice Chancellor will be looking for evidence in the written application (word count, 1,500 +/- 10%) andinterview/presentation of both academic and professional career ambition, leadership and motivational skills and aptitude, presentational ability, strong interpersonal skills and examples of work within the community, sporting or cultural achievements.

 

Prospective applicants must also be committed to representing the university and taking part in promoting the university.

by 1 July 2012 for September 2012 entry and students must also have indicated University of Bolton as their firm/final choice by the 1 July 2012. 

 

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held in the week commencing Monday 30 July 2011 (provisionally).

 

Finalists will be notified before enrolment

Payments will be made after enrolment subject to continuing confirmation of attendance and if the student withdraws or interrupts their studies payments will cease.

Amount

 

 

Instalment payments of up to £15,000 which will be paid over the duration of the course, i.e. for a three year degree course a payment of up to £5,000 per academic year would be made.

 

Payment

 

Payments will be made on the 18th of each month in instalments from November to June inclusive, subject to confirmation of attendance and excluding repeat years of study.

 

Students in receipt of the Vice Chancellor’s Award will not be eligible to receive the University of Bolton Scholarship, National Scholarship award or Fee Waiver. 

   

 

Please note

 

  • Students who commence their studies in January/February 2013 can apply for the September 2013 Award, dates to be confirmed, and payments will commence in the following academic year.

*The award will be paid for first HE courses only, not subsequent equivalent or lower level HE courses.
