Choosing your sixth form subjects

The subjects you study in your sixth form can influence the course of your whole life, especially if you intend to study at degree level. It's important to ensure the ones you choose are suitable for the career you have in mind, so to help you with your research this page shows subjects that the University of Bolton is likely to require at level 3 (i.e. A2-level or equivalent) for our undergraduate degree courses.

Choose a subject area from the list below to find out what degrees we offer and the subjects you'll need to study to be eligible for them:

The University of Bolton recognises the value of an extremely wide range of qualifications and subject areas. Here, we only ask for specific subjects where they are genuinely required for success at degree-level – otherwise you are free to choose the level 3 subjects that interest you the most. We are happy to accept subjects such as General Studies and Critical Thinking. We also know that GCSEs and A-levels don't suit everyone, so we're happy to accept students with appropriate equivalent qualifications such as BTECs, the new diplomas, access courses and a host of other qualifications from across the UK, EU and the world.

For all courses, as well as level 3 qualifications, you will need level 2 qualifications (i.e. GCSEs or equivalent). Normally, we ask for five GCSEs including English and mathematics, although for some courses there is flexibility here.
