Entry requirements

Bachelors degree and MEng courses

Applicants are normally expected to have completed level 3 qualifications (i.e. A2-levels or equivalent).

  • Two or three GCE A2-level passes with the relevant UCAS points, or
  • Advanced Diploma or Progression Diploma with the relevant UCAS points, or
  • Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education (AVCE) double award or two AVCE single awards with the relevant UCAS points, or
  • BTEC National Diploma (NQF) or BTEC National Certificate (NQF) with the relevant UCAS points. The BTEC National Award (NQF) is acceptable in combination with other level 3 qualifications, with the relevant UCAS points, or
  • BTEC Extended Diploma at level 3 (QCF) or BTEC Diploma at level 3 (QCF) with the relevant UCAS points. The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma at level 3 (QCF) is acceptable in combination with other level 3 qualifications, with the relevant UCAS points, or
  • Other equivalent qualifications, such as Scottish Highers, Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma, Irish Leaving Certificates, International Baccalaureate, with the relevant UCAS points, or
  • Pass kitemarked Access to Higher Education Diploma with the required credits.
  • Applicants should also normally possess five GCSE passes at grade C or above, or other equivalent level 2 qualifications.
  • Overseas candidates must have completed high school or equivalent and have English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
  • The University of Bolton reserves the right to call any applicant for interview, request a portfolio of appropriate work or administer any other test to determine a candidate's suitability for study prior to their enrolment with the University.
