I've applied through UCAS - what do I do now?

If you have applied through UCAS but are not holding any offers from institutions then you should be eligible for Clearing. You can login to the UCAS Track| website to check. If you are eligible for Clearing an 'Add Clearing choice' button will appear on your Track 'choices' screen.

Before adding a Clearing choice you should contact the University of Bolton to discuss your course options. When we have made you an offer for a course through Clearing you can then use the 'Add Clearing choice' button to apply for that course.

Please DO NOT use the 'Add Clearing course' button until you have contacted the University of Bolton and we have offered you a place. Once you have added a Clearing course on UCAS Track you will not be able to add another one. Visit www.ucas.com/clearing| for more information.

1. Choose a course or subject area then call us on 01204 903030

Please look at our list of courses in Clearing| then call our Clearing Hotline on 01204 903030 or fill in our online enquiry form| to ask about the courses that interest you.

We will ask you for:

  • the name of the course(s) you are interested in studying
  • your UCAS Personal ID
  • your UCAS Clearing number
  • your name
  • your address and postcode
  • your telephone number
  • whether you are a home/EU or international student.

Full details of all your qualifications including levels of study, subject names and grades should appear on your UCAS application. If they are not correctly listed we will not be able to consider your application.

Places fill up fast and you should contact us as soon as possible.

2. Find out if we can offer you a place

Our hotline staff will download a copy of your UCAS application form and discuss your suitability for your course of interest.

We may be able to make you an unofficial offer of a place over the telephone or by email. For some subjects you may need to attend for an interview, provide a portfolio of your work or give a diagnostic presentation.

3. Choose the University of Bolton and apply through UCAS Track

If you wish to take up your unofficial offer you will need to login to the UCAS Track| website and use the 'Add Clearing course' button to submit your application to us. We will then be able to consider your application 'officially'.

In some cases we may request a photocopy of your exam results. Please ensure you write your UCAS Personal ID number and name on any correspondance you send to us.

Our address is:
Clearing
Marketing & Recruitment
University of Bolton
Bolton

Email: clearing@bolton.ac.uk|

We will then confirm your offer and inform UCAS. After this you will receive a letter from us, and another from UCAS, confirming that you hold an unconditional firm place at the University of Bolton.

4. Find out more about the University of Bolton

You can find out more about the Univeristy of Bolton by visiting our website, but this is no substitute for visiting the University personally. On one of our open days| you'll get the chance to find out more about your course, take a tour of the University and visit our halls of residence.

If you have a disability or additional support needs we would encourage you to contact our disability service| as soon as possible to discuss your support needs.

If you need advice regarding fees, finance and funding please contact our student finance team|.

5. Enrolment, induction and applying for a place in halls

Once you have an unconditional firm place with us you will receive information explaining the enrolment process. Enrolment is the formal process of joining the University - it's when you officially become a student with us.

Induction is your introduction to your course - during induction you'll meet your tutors and classmates and get your timetable for the semester. You'll receive your induction timetable directly from the academic school offering your course.

Both enrolment and induction are vitally important to becoming a student at the University of Bolton - please read the information you receive carefully and ensure you attend all the activities listed for your course.

Once you are holding an unconditional firm place you can apply to stay in our halls of residence|.
