The University of Bolton has a proud heritage stretching back over 100 years.
We are committed to providing high quality higher education for a diverse community regardless of age, gender, race, disability or social background and we are proud of our broad student mix. Our flexible approach means that many courses are available for full or part-time study, and can be combined with work and other commitments. As a result the University of Bolton is one of the most socially inclusive universities in the country. Many of our students and graduates are the first members of their families to go to university.
We’re also committed to explaining just what higher education is all about and we try to avoid jargon wherever possible.
Education after secondary or high school – such as a sixth form college or community college - is referred to as further education or FE. This is not the only route into higher education, there are many others, including work experience.
Higher education, or HE, is education by universities and university colleges that award academic degrees. Like the University of Bolton.
