Clearing
What is Clearing?
In August, if your results are not quite as good as you would have hoped, or if you have only just decided to apply to university, clearing offers you the chance to gain a place at university. The clearing vacancies for all institutions are published on the UCAS website| and in the Independent newspaper on A- level/AVCE results day.
How do I apply through Clearing?
From early-July if you have applied through UCAS but are not holding any offers from institutions then you will eligible for Clearing. You will be able to apply to courses through the UCAS Track website using the 'add a Clearing course' function.
To apply through Clearing you should look up the Clearing vacancies on the UCAS website or in the newspapers listed above and contact those institutions that have places on courses that interest you. They will consider your application and let you know if they can make you an offer. You can call as many institutions as you like.
You should then choose one of the institutions that have made you an offer through Clearing and refer your application to them through the UCAS Track system. They will make you an unconditional offer through UCAS. You are then guaranteed a place on that course and simply need to follow their instructions for enrolment and induction.
