Meet the Team
Project Director: Derek Rout, Director of Estates, oversees all estates provisions across the university. Derek has experience with energy conservation on building construction. His involvement in this project will help the university understand energy awareness and conservation.
Project Manager: Darrell Slater-Smith, Energy Projects Manager for UoB. Darrell is experienced in building energy consumption management. He oversees the monitoring of energy consumption and energy waste in the old building infrastructure.
TRIZ Developer: Danny Morton, Professor of Engineering has been studying and teaching the TRIZ methodology for a number of years. Danny's knowledge of TRIZ will be applied to the current energy consumption problems.
IT Policy and Planning: Patrick O'Reilly, Responsible for managing the core IT resources including the learninng resources. Patrick's knowledge of current computer service architecture and strategy will be essential to understand how computer equipment impacts on energy consumption.
Computer and Systems Support: Roger Kirkham, Technical support for the Computer Intensive Environments. His extensive knowledge of the networks within the labs and the equipment we are working with. Helping aid an optimum solution whilst maintaining service levels.
Building Environment Expert: Margaret Nelson, brings both an understanding of building developments especially in the green development area and an understanding of the teaching evironment, within which we operate to the project group.
Data centre & Computer Systems Support: Mark Williamson, responsible for the datacentre in the pilot area and university wide networks. His understanding of how the enviromental and operational changes in the data centres, will affect the equipment and the services the university require from it's systems.
End-user Academic: Brian Morris and Damien Marckey as users of the pilot area, they contribute how the users of the space behave and consume energy. They have an industrial understanding of how the markey driven factors will affect the demand on Computer intensive environments.
