Associate study

Many of the courses and qualifications offered by the University of Bolton are modular, i.e. they are composed of a number of modules. In some cases students do not wish to take the whole qualification and elect only to study one or two modules from the course.  Such students are known as associate students.

Why study as an associate student?

There are many reasons why students might wish to select one or two modules from a qualification, for instance:

  • they may need the specialist knowledge offered by that particular module for their career - they can become an associate student to top-up their skills quickly without committing to long term study
  • they may not be sure that they will enjoy the subject and by studying one or two modules as an associate student they can try it out before enrolling on the full qualification
  • they may simply be interested in the subject and wish to stretch their mental muscles.

What modules are available?

Technically any module offered by the University of Bolton is available to study as an associate so long as you meet the entry requirements for that module.  The modules comprising each course are often listed in the course finder| entry for that qualification. Alternatively you can contact the course's programme leader for details.
