Manual Handling Instructors
A Three Day Train the Instructor Course in Manual Handling will take place in October/November 2008.
The course is supported by the license to reproduce HR UK's 'Training for Handlers for Safer Load Management' for all attending delegates.
Course Overview:
Manual Handling training is a challenging area of Health and Safety as delegates have to understand medical based theory (the 'why' behind the 'how') and be able to absorb specific practical techniques (possibly changing habits of a lifetime!)
The course includes Practical Skills instruction and Dynamic Risk Assessment Skills:
Equality Impact Asessment Training
All staff who are involved in writing policies are required to carry out Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) of our policies, procedures and practices to ensure that as a public institution we are actively engaged in eliminating discrimination and positively promoting equality.
This training took place at the beginning of July and will be repeated again on 4/9/08.
As a result of this training we will be able to engage with the requirements of equality legislation and can reflect on the impact of our policies and practices on the different communities which make up the University and thus make positive changes for the future.
Contensis Training
Approximately 100 people have now undertaken training in how to use the University's Content Management System. This has made a vast difference to the way in which web pages are developed and maintained. The user friendly environment offered by Contensis has made the process much easier for those new to web development. The University web pages are now based on a standard template and this has resulted in a much more consistent and professional layout. If you need this training and have not yet attended a session, please let me know by emailing: t.ellis@bolton.ac.uk. If you have need any technical help with Contensis, please contact Dan Rowles, Web Co-ordinator, D.Rowles@bolton.ac.uk|
