Probationary Period
The first 12 months of employment will be a probationary period during which your suitability for the position to which you have been appointed will be assessed. The University reserves the right to extend the probationary period, for up to a maximum of a further 12 months if, in the University's opinion, circumstances so require.
During the probationary period employment may be terminated by the University on giving the normal notice required by the contract.
Should you be promoted between grades, there will be a six-month probationary period during which your performance in the new areas of responsibility will be monitored. At the end of this period, you may be required by the Director of School to revert to a post at your previous grade. In such a case, other than with your agreement, you will be given one month's notice indicating the post to which you will revert.
Should the appointment be for a fixed term of 12 months or less, the whole period in question will be probationary to the extent that your performance will be taken into account in consideration of an extension to the contract.
Probationary Reviews are generally carried out on 3 months and 9 months.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST COMPLETE YOUR INDUCTION IN ORDER TO PASS YOUR PROBATIONARY REVIEW.
